> National Health Center Week
Current as of August 26, 2010 National Health Center Week is dedicated to recognizing the service and contributions of Community, Migrant, Homeless and Public Housing Health Centers in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people in the U.S. Health Center Week also sets aside two days to focus on farmworkers and the homeless, special populations that are often left outside of the mainstream health care system, but are very much a part of Health Centers. Health Centers, nationally, serve 18 million people, including 925,000 farmworkers and nearly 940,000 people who are homeless. Additionally, Health Center Week is an opportunity to thank the Health Centers and those who support them. Please support health centers by participating in the weeklong events around the state. National Health Center week for 2010 will be August 8 - 14. The historical passage of health care reform in March has a lot of people asking, “what does this mean to me?” As part of NACHCs National Health Center Week, CPCA and the regional consortia will be kicking off an educational campaign highlighting the important and beneficial provisions that will make community clinic and health centers and their patients, better able to thrive. FAQs of the New Health Care Reform Law Training July 28, 2010 On July 28, 2010, CPCA hosted a webinar training on the frequently asked questions (FAQs) of the new health care refom law. The training will help build the knowledge of community clinic and health center staff, who can then inform patients and the community at large during our parallel education campaign as part of National Health Center Week (NHCW) August 8-14. Please click here to access a recording of the webinar training (38 minutes). Please click here for a pdf verion of the PowerPoint presentation slides. Please click here for a pdf version of the Pocket Guide - Frequently Asked Questions. Once you have completed the training, you are eligible for an “Ask me about health care reform” button, a pocket guide that includes the answers to these questions and access to bilingual email accounts to direct your unanswered questions.
