> National Health Center Week
Current as of January 20, 2010 National Health Center Week is dedicated to recognizing the service and contributions of Community, Migrant, Homeless and Public Housing Health Centers in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people in the U.S. Health Center Week also sets aside two days to focus on farmworkers and the homeless, special populations that are often left outside of the mainstream health care system, but are very much a part of Health Centers. Health Centers, nationally, serve 18 million people, including 925,000 farmworkers and nearly 940,000 people who are homeless. Additionally, Health Center Week is an opportunity to thank the Health Centers and those who support them. Please support health centers by participating in the weeklong events around the state. CPCA has organized a statewide awareness campaign which will focus on the role health centers play in their communities and in the state’s health care system, the impact of the state budget cuts, and need for federal Health Care Reform. CPCA will be providing blue awareness ribbons to consortiums in order for them to distribute the ribbons to clinics locally. A ribbon was chosen due to its familiarity in highlighting a cause and bringing awareness to it. If you are interested in having your clinic participate, please contact your consortium directly. If you are not part of a consortium, please contact Aracely Navarro at anavarro@cpca.org and we will provide you with ribbons by the end of this week. Please note, in the ribbon image below, the two variations and state which you would prefer, and how many, in your request. We will try and accommodate as many as possible. CPCA Toolkit In addition, CPCA has created a toolkit to help in the planning of an event and assistance with press statements, Op-Eds and letters for state legislatures and congressional representatives highlighting the overarching message of the role health centers play in their communities and in the state’s health care system, the impact of the state budget cuts, and need for federal HCR . The Health Center Week toolkit includes the following: Flyer Template for Awareness Event State Legislators Letter Template State Fact Sheet on Health Centers Talking Points on Traditional Clinic Programs Reductions Fact Sheet on Healthy Families Reductions Talking Points on Healthy Families Reductions Talking Points on Optional Benefits Fact Sheet on Federal Health Care Reform Talking Points on Federal Health Care Reform PowerPoint & Notes on Health Care Reform Op-Ed Templates for Traditional Clinic Programs, Healthy Families, Health Care Reform , Optional Benefits, Health Center Week Media Statements for Health Center Week, Traditional Clinic Programs, Healthy Families, Optional Benefits, Health Care Reform NACHC Resources Click on the link below to view specifics on events in your area.
