OVERVIEW

The California Safety Net Coalition (CSNC) provides a unified voice for the health care safety net provider community on decisions and activities regarding the development of the health information technology infrastructure in California.

Objectives:

  1. Advocate for the safety net providers in California on issues of HIT.
  2. Provide clear position statements regarding the needs of safety net providers to participate in HIT activity, including Health Information Exchange, Regional Extension Centers, Electronic Health Records and Meaningful Use.
  3. Disseminate appropriate HIT-related information to the safety net provider community.
  4. Support a safety-net governed Regional Extension Center in California.
  5. Respond to HIT-related decisions on a timely basis to ensure safety net provider inclusion.

Participation is open to all not-for-profit statewide organizations supporting, representing, and serving direct health care service safety net providers.  The health care safety net includes organizations that represent: primary care including community clinics and health centers, school-based health centers, family planning, and solo, small group and physician organizations; public hospitals and disproportionate share hospitals; behavioral health,  including providers of services for mental health and substance use disorders, and social rehabilitation agencies; and all the organizations that represent the direct health care service providers working within the safety net.
