Health Care Ambassador Program

OVERVIEW

The historic passage of health care reform in March, 2010, has a lot of people asking, “What does this mean to me?” In August, 2010, during National Health Center Week (NHCW), CPCA launched an educational campaign highlighting the important and beneficial provisions that the health care law will have on community clinics, health centers and their patients. As part of this campaign, we offered several trainings to help clinic staff become more informed and better able to answer questions that may come up about the health care law.

These trained clinic staff, or Health Care Ambassadors, have made a commitment to become educated about the health care law; and we, CPCA, have committed to keeping them informed by providing trainings and educational materials on the variety of health reform provisions that will be released over the next several years.

If you have questions about the program or any of the trainings, please contact Aracely Navarro at anavarro@cpca.org

RESOURCES

What does it mean to be an Ambassador?

When the Affordable Care Act passed in March of 2010, there was uncertainty by the public as to what this law means to the community and themselves. Politicians, pundits, the media and the community have had differing opinions and that has left many people confused. The role of the Health Care Ambassador is not to be an expert, but to broadly understand the benefits and the resources available to clinics and the community they serve. Outlined below are the commitments associated with becoming an Ambassador:

Hot topic webinars
Brown Bag Informational Sessions
Access to free tool-kit and resources
Incentive SWAG for educating and engaging others

If you would like support in coordinating a Health Care 101 session for your community, please contact Aracely Navarro at anavarro@cpca.org.
