Avoiding Burnout While Caring For Ourselves And Others

Avoiding Burnout While Caring For Ourselves And Others

This live event occurred on 4/15/21; to access the recording, continue registering below. Please email training@cpca.org for a copy of the session materials.

Compassion has been shown to benefit patient health outcomes, alleviate clinician burnout, strengthen relationships, and improve organizational measures such as employee turnover and absenteeism. But what do we mean by “compassion”, and more broadly, emotional intelligence? How can it be cultivated as a practical skill? And how does this capacity help to prevent and decrease symptoms of burnout?

In this webinar, we will explore these questions and more, and participants will experience a taste of compassion training. More information about the upcoming Compassion Cultivation Training Workshop hosted by CPCA starting on May 3 - 24 will also be shared.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Describe what is meant by “compassion”, “emotional intelligence”, and “compassion training / cultivation”.
  • Describe how compassion and emotional intelligence can be cultivated through training and practice.
  • Describe how compassion and emotional intelligence is a tangible skill that is helpful for burnout prevention.

PRESENTERS
  • Jane Chun, PhD, Program Director, Compassion Institute
