Webinar Series for Behavioral Health Directors

Community Health Centers (CHCs) play a critical role in providing outpatient mental health and substance use disorder services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries in many communities, especially for the expansion population. In fact, since 2010 CHCs have increased mental health encounters by 154%! As health centers continue to transform care and focus on the patient's whole health, they will need high functioning behavioral health departments with strong leaders anchoring the department.

Webinar 2 - Balancing Productivity & Financial Sustainability with Quality

In fee-for-service reimbursement models, productivity is inevitably tied to financial sustainability, and often, is a proxy for value at the organization. While it is important to avoid some of the characteristics of the medical model, which has led to burnout in medical providers, behavioral health leaders also need to develop realistic productivity goals for their department. Healthy productivity ensures maximum access for patients, while preserving provider autonomy and prioritizing clinician well-being.  With this foundation, behavioral health leaders can build a compelling financial sustainability case, in order to continue to rapidly grow a wide range of behavioral health services.

The second in our webinar series will explore models for supervisors to consider when determining productivity standards and supporting providers toward more realistic goals.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Models for determining productivity;
  • Strategies for preserving provider autonomy and well-being;
  • How to develop a compelling behavioral health financial dashboard; and,
  • Ways to demonstrate accountability to measures during reporting.
