Recognizing California houses some of the nation's toughest wage and hour labor laws, this 60-minute webinar will help community health center leaders and human resources staff update their policy and procedures to ensure compliance with California requirements. A specific emphasis will be placed on overtime pay, meal and rest periods policies, travel time policies, and record-keeping requirements. Participants will also be provided information on how to access the comprehensive hard-book and labor audits services offered by Palmer Kazanjian, Wohl Holdson (PKWH) LLP.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Understand current federal, state, and local legislation that guide health center wage and hour policy and procedures;
  • Expand understanding on meal and rest break requirements, as well as compensatory time off;
  • Learn the importance of proper recording and documentation of time records;
  • Understand how both federal and state legislation impact the community health center workforce, especially the clinical workforce and independent contractors; and,
  • Outline best practices for how health centers can best comply with guidelines.
