CPCA is offering this multi-part training program to help answer questions and address concerns that health centers and regional associations have regarding immigration and the impact that federal policies have on their patients and staff.

In the next two webinars we will be reviewing CaliforniaHealth+ Advocates immigration sample policies and procedures. We would like to thank our legal counsel, Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell LLP (FTLF) and immigration partners, like the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), who helped review these policies and procedures.

For decades, community health centers have been safety net providers for under-served and low income communities, while also serving as active advocates for their patients’ healthcare rights. This is especially true now that our immigrant patients and communities are facing extreme fears of deportation under the new administration. In response, health centers have been looking to implement policies and procedures that will help ensure the safety of immigrant patients and staff in the event of an immigration raid.

In this session, we will focus on how health centers can put policies and procedures in place to ensure preparedness for immigration enforcement actions. First, the Immigrant Legal Resource Center will provide an overview of the current state of immigration enforcement, including updates on current legislation, policies, and practices within both a nationwide and a California-specific context. Next, CaliforniaHealth+ Advocates will present sample policies and procedures that health centers could quickly adapt and enact given the current legal environment. And finally, LifeLong Medical Care will offer implementation strategies for adopting these procedures, while also sharing lessons learned and best practices.
