Ensuring Access To Care Amidst Immigrant Fears

With the current trend of increasing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sweeps and raids to detain immigrants, community health centers are in a critical position to understand their roles and responsibilities in protecting their patients. Last year, CPCA released sample policies and procedures to help health centers prepare for the possibility of an ICE raid while also providing immigrant patients resources to help decrease fear and misinformation. In partnership with Public Counsel, CPCA is producing a two-part training  series to support health centers and their staff in implementing aspects of the sample policies and procedures to ensure health centers have the resources needed to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all patients seeking care.

Part 1 of the training series, titled Ensuring Access to Care Amidst Immigrant Fears, is designed to engage health center leadership in discussing how to best prepare health centers to respond to the current political climate impacting our immigrant patients. In our conversation, we will provide an update of upcoming policy changes that could impact how health centers interact and support their patients. In addition, the webinar will highlight healthcare law and policies that protect patient information and how those policies intersect with immigration enforcement. Lastly, the webinar will give a broad overview of how health centers can develop strategies that can respond to and protect patients affected by this issue, which will be explored in-depth in Part 2 of the training series.
