Developing the Enhanced Care Management Workforce

DATE:  Wednesday, March 29th, 2023
TIME:  10:00am-11:00am

The whole-person model of care envisioned by CalAIM's Enhanced Care Management (ECM) requires providers to develop significant new capabilities to develop the trust and relationships needed to successfully navigate across Medi-Cal’s different delivery systems on behalf of their clients. ECM teams must possess skills related to outreach and engagement, care planning, care coordination, health promotion, transitional care support, member and family education, and social services coordination. To better understand what will be required for long-term success, the Camden Coalition conducted research on training needs. This webinar will present the process and findings from the study, discuss the opportunities and challenges for training the frontline ECM workforce, and share the experience of Communicare Health Centers in hiring, onboarding, and supporting ECM providers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes for successfully implementing whole-person care under ECM
  • Understand available resources and promising practices for onboarding and training ECM frontline providers
