Medicare 101 (Part 1 of 2)

This is a 2-part webinar series.

Part 1 of this webinar will overview the basic structure of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and dual Medi-Cal/Medicare coverage. Presenters will share why health centers should care about developing a Medicare strategy for their organization and provide next steps on identifying if Medicare is viable business and care management opportunity for their health center. Presenters will share information on next steps on contracting and rate setting journeys for a value-based contract with a Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO).

Part 2 of this webinar series will present a use case scenario for health centers considering a new Medicare line of business or augmenting sophistication of existing Medicare services. Aledade will present information the benefits of participating in a Medicare ACO. And the audience will hear a case study from a health center, including operational and staffing changes that helped them succeed.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the difference in eligibility, coverage options, and administration between Medi-Medi, original Medicare, and Medicare Advantage AND how Medicare differs from Medicaid;
  • Hear why organizations should develop a Medicare strategy for their organization and how value-based care contracts with ACOs are operationally and financially helpful;
  • Receive a tool for calculating cost savings/returns for their patient population;
  • Articulate the action steps for contracting and rate setting; and,
  • Hear from a health center that became part of a Medicare ACO.
