Partnerships in Addressing Housing Insecurity

DATE:  June 14, 2023
TIME:  10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (Pacific)

For more than a decade, California has had the largest number of people experiencing homelessness in the nation—with over 30% of all individuals in the United States that were unsheltered in 2022 residing in mainly the urban areas of our state. The COVID-19 pandemic caused federal and state-level responses to protect people experiencing homelessness (e.g., temporary hotel room housing, eviction moratoriums, and expanded housing supports); but the amount of people living on the streets and in shelters continues growing—including a disproportionate number of people of color. People experiencing homelessness have less access to primary, specialty, and preventive health care services leading to worsened health outcomes and life expectancy in comparison to their housed counterparts. Featuring direct service providers of social care at a community health center, this webinar aims to reveal diverse strategies for supporting individuals as they find housing and supports in their community, arrange for services that individuals in need choose, and integrating individuals to live and fully participate in their community. Presenters provide ideas for forming similar community-driven partnerships. Discussion will inform broader community integration strategies for all people experiencing homelessness.
